Grant Information

Child Care Mini Grants Completed
The Commission awarded mini grants totalling $18,000 to 12 child care facilities. Congratulations to the awardees, all of whom completed some self-study using the ECERS family of scales. This completes our last round of child care mini grants. In February, the Commission will release their request for proposals for the last round of community mini grants. Stay tuned!

Professional Advancement for Kids Scholarships
PAK Scholarships for anyone working in a professional capacity with children under age 6 (who have not entered Kindergarten) are now available! Beginning July 1, 2011 $2,500 will be available, with another $2,500 available January 1, 2012. PAK Scholarships will now be up to $300 per person, with those who received a PAK Scholarship in the previous funding year ineligible for the current funding year.

PAK scholarships are given to individuals who work in a professional capacity with children 0 to 5 who have not yet entered Kindergarten. Each year, the Commission allocates $5,000 for these scholarships which are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis throughout the year; download application below.

For Fiscal Year 2010/11 we allocated funding to 15 individuals working with over 149 children ages 0 to 5 in Nevada County.

Three-Year Grants
Our current round of 3 year grants will run from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2012. The Commission has just completed their priority-setting process for the 2012-2015 cycle of grants and has allocated funds to collaboratives, home visiting, school readiness, family resource centers, children's behavioral health, and quality child care.

Toddler Gym Time in Truckee
This is a parent-facilitated, active play and socialization opportunity for parents ans young children. Weekly classes are held every Thurs. from 10 to 11:30 am at the TTUSD District Office, 11603 Donner Pass Road. Classes follow the school holiday and vacation schedule. Gym time is Free and sponsored by The Family Resource Center of Truckee & First 5 Nevada County. Donations are appreciated.

Baby & Me Groups
Next Session Starts Jan. 17
Come and meet parents with similar aged children. There's lots of smiles and laughter with our parent-baby groups, enjoy songs, playtime, and discussion.
